Schedule (subject to change)

Welcome to CFWF 2024 - Making Waves in Nova Scotia

Early Bird pricing runs until July 31, 2024

We're happy to welcome you to the Canadian Farm Writers' Federation's annual conference in Halifax, N.S., Oct. 3-5, 2024.

We've put together tours and professional development that will showcase Nova Scotia agriculture, provide you with fodder for stories to share with your audiences and workshops to sharpen your skills as journalists and communicators.

Here's a brief look at the conference agenda (as of June 1):

(agenda subject to change)

Thursday, Oct. 3

Optional pre-conference tours (self-guided, on your own – we believe in you!)

Please note: Four cruise ships are scheduled to be in port on Oct. 3, making it a busy day in Halifax. Guided tours as noted below are likely to sell out quickly, so we recommend booking early. The waterfront will be bustling and pubs will be full but it's a great chance to enjoy the Halifax vibe.

Peggy's Cove (you’ll need to rent a car for this)

Approximately 4 hours (ideal for those who fly in on Wednesday or early Thursday morning). Travel along the Lighthouse Route to Peggy’s Cove, a quaint seaside village home to the most photographed lighthouse in Canada, perched on a rugged coastline jutting out into the Atlantic. We’ll map out the route, point out interesting stops along the way and throw in some lunch recommendations and include the location of nearby car rental agencies. We encourage you to use the CFWF Facebook Page to connect with other attendees to fill a rental car and set off on your adventure.

If you prefer a guided tour and would rather not drive, check out Viatour. We can’t vouch for any of these companies.

City Tours

Meet your old and new friends in the lobby and pick up a city map from the Registration Desk. We'll highlight points of interest, routes and probably a couple of breweries. Designed to be a walking tour, you can also take a taxi, Uber or public transit.
