Are you an agriculture and food communicator?

About

The Atlantic Canada Farm Writers' Association began in 2012 after agricultural journalists and communicators in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador felt the need for a more local organization of peers and colleagues, closer to home than the next closest professional organization based in Ontario.

We are a professional group with a diversity of jobs connected by the common thread of communicating about agriculture and food. We are committed to professional communications in Atlantic Canada. We are:

  • Reporters, editors and broadcasters

  • Business, government and academia

  • Bloggers, influencers and marketers

  • Students studying journalism, marketing, advertising, communication

As a professional organization associated with the Canadian Farm Writers Federation (CFWF) and the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ), we share the objective to create opportunities for our members across the country to network, make professional and personal contacts and forge relationships. To do this, the IFAJ, CFWF and ACFWA convene an annual gathering (separate from an annual business meeting), as well as host farm tours, webinars, meetings and other events. These initiatives, and the online conversations surrounding them and other CFWF interests, are a perfect platform for building positive relationships across provinces, cultures and sectors.

The CFWF Code of Conduct, which ACFWA members adhere to, sets out the standards of personal and professional behaviour expected from those who take part in CFWF and ACFWA events and online communications and the sanctions that may be applied if those standards are not respected.

The overall aim is to ensure a collegial, respectful and harassment‐free experience for everyone and professional and culturally aware behaviour at all times.
